Outbreak Radar collects minimal data to provide the Service:

Location data — if you use "Near Me" or enter a ZIP code, we use your approximate location to show relevant local disease data. This is processed in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
Email address — if you sign up for alerts, we store your email and ZIP code to send you outbreak notifications. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Usage data — standard server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is used for security and performance monitoring only.

2. How We Use Your Data

To show disease activity near your location (processed locally in your browser)
To send outbreak alert emails if you subscribed
To improve performance and diagnose technical issues
We do not sell your data to third parties
We do not use your data for advertising

3. Cookies & Local Storage

Outbreak Radar uses browser local storage (not cookies) to cache CDC wastewater data for faster load times. This data is public health information — it contains no personal information. It expires automatically after 24 hours.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

4. Third-Party Services

CDC NWSS — wastewater surveillance data (public domain)
Vercel — hosting and serverless functions. Vercel Privacy Policy
Carto — map tile rendering. No personal data is shared.
Supabase — stores email alert subscriptions if you opt in. Supabase Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

Alert subscription emails are retained until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any alert email or by contacting us directly.

6. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your email subscription data at any time by contacting privacy@outbreakradar.com.

7. Children's Privacy

Outbreak Radar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
